STEM Snapshot: Oct. 8-Nov. 5th

Students took on the role as an Innovative Designer where they used technology and other tools to provide solutions to the problems that were presented to them. For 2nd-5th grades, this was an extension of their research from the last rotation with me. Kindergarten & 1st grades demonstrated this role with smaller tasks.
For 2nd-5th grades, their research was one portion of the Project Based Learning/ LAUNCH cycle they were completing. Their research guided their thinking and helped them produce a product that made sense.

2nd grader's arctic habitat.

2nd Grade: If our school received the money, could you create a habitat for animals and plants to live in the gym so we could have unlimited field trips?

3rd Grade: Can you create a station for 1st graders to visit and learn more about a mineral for our class Mineral Museum?

4th Grade: Once you research about your  planet, would it be reasonable for people to live on it? If yes, create a structure that would help humans survive on there. If no, create an invention that can help study your planet further.

5th Grade: After researching about a certain type of severe weather, can you create an invention that will either help people during the storm or after the storm hits?

Depending on where a class was at (due to timing), students learned how to give constructive criticism on one another's work.

1st & Kindergarten interacted further with Seesaw {click here for my post about how to see their work}  and how to use it's tools and activities to complete various tasks.

To also continue the work of Digital Citizenship, they also learned how to log out of their device to keep their password safe.
Kindergartener's created a self portrait using the drawing tools in Seesaw.

1st grader's pixel art that they took a photo of an uploaded to Seesaw.
